Rewarding the Awarding.

Jackson's school awards a child from each grade level and class an award for Citizenship, Most improved academically, P.E., Art, Music, and the Principal's Award. Jackson came home with a letter from school the other day inviting us to the ceremony, but did not list which award he would be receiving.

The ceremony started. I really had no idea what we were in store for. After going through the list. Finally they reached "The Principals Award" which our little man ended up receiving due to his Reading and Math. What an exciting moment! We're so proud and happy for our Jackson! Jackson kept telling us about his reward(award). I told him that in a sense it is a reward for him being such a good student.

Jackson with Principal Carter.
Our sweet little man thanked Mr. Carter for giving him his award, and NO, I did not prompt him to do it, he did it on his own.
Ok i'll stop bragging.
We're just super proud of him!

Here's the video.

Their First Father-Daughter Dance.

Last year, I had the opportunity of photographing some wonderful Father-Daughter couples at SDA's First Annual Father Daughter Dance. This year I decided to send Avery and Brandon to the event. Im so glad I did! The Smith couple had a ton of fun movin' and a groovin' on the dance floor to the music. I think Avery might have worn Brandon out. Our little lady won a FREE car wash from the raffle, while I stayed behind the lens to capture the sweet moments of Daddies and their little princesses.

The Dentist.

Another cavity FREE trip to the dentist. Which I expected since they are tooth brushing pro's. The dentists ended up pulling another top tooth of Jackson's that was ready to come out. He's
now toothless again.

Lost and Found.

We found it! This is my Grandmother's dress that had been missing since she passed away in January of 2008. As I was going through a few things in a hall closet at her house preparing my Uncle for his big move, I came across a plain white trash bag. As I opened the bag and looked in, it seemed to be a very expensive table cloth. I was about to put the bag down but felt pressed to open it all the way.... my heart started racing, I jumped up from the floor and ran through the house to find Mom. OMG I found it, I found the dress! We were so thrilled to find this missing piece of history that has puzzled us all for over 3 years.

The Three...NO! Wait...Four Little Pigs.

Brandon had a friend to catch a few piglets. Initially I agreed to keeping ONE. With in a week we accumulated two more. I now count four little piglets in our pen. The kids and their friends do enjoy having them to feed and observe. I think Brandon's plans might be a bit different later on down the road. At least for now they are cute and low maintenance pets.

The Swing.

Here are a few shots of Brandon practicing his golf swing .....

Model Test.

Just upgraded my equipment at the beginning of the month. Here are a few test shots of my favorite models.

Snow White.

After a few hard falls down our porch stairs we made our way onto the ice path that sat in our front yard to do a little ice skating. For the ones who don't know I won a Gold metal in an ice skating compettion when I was 9 needless to say I lost my touch and I was falling left and right on my rump. So much for taking lessons. Jackson enjoyed, Avery despised, and Harrison really didn't care either way about it. Jackson has been out of school for a full week. Its nice to have more time to spend with him, but its been hard not being able to get out to do anything. But here comes the sun. The weekend forecast should melt it away.

Homemade.

Aunt Becca & Uncle Jake let us borrow an inspirational recipe book titled, Family Feast for $75 a Week by Mary Ostyn. The author is a Mom of personal experience and has the challenge of feeding a family of ten without going bankrupt. I was completely skeptical, but seeing as our grocery bills were increasing weekly I had to give it a shot. Its very cost efficient. She includes hundreds of recipes from Mexican dishes to Chinese and everything in between. All the meals are seasoned to taste absolutely delicious. This is our homemade pizza. We didn't make the pepperoni or cheese, but the crust is authentic. Brandon hearts" Auntie Edie's Pancake" recipe. They are simply the best pancakes we've ever created, beats the pants out of any boxed . You will spend a lot up front to own everything on her staples list, which is a list of common items that will be used in the majority of the meals. I personally spent way to much on spices, but it is well worth saving hundreds in the long run .

Home on the Range.

Jackson's Winter Break is almost over:( We wanted to spend the last few hours of VACA together. Brandon popped up with the idea of taking the gang to our local driving range. Totally original! Even though they ran around for the majority of the time, it was great fun. Avery and Jackson enjoyed practicing maybe they'll be they next big thing in the golf world.

A Fresh Start.
